Story
Tonys friends should know of his remarkable story. Tony had just lost his job. Told he had to vacate his home, and then diagnosed with cancer. All within the space of a couple of months. Tony had fallen to rock bottom as he put it. He didnt receive any benefits and had to use local foodbanks. I couldnt imagine what he was going through. Tony was diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus after an endoscopy, in january 2016. Tony was unable to eat any food or even get water down as his tumour was the size of a tennis ball and causing obstruction. Tony had many choking scenes where he and family members were upset at having to endure this. He then changed his lifestyle dramatically and started on alternative therapies which he believes have saved his life or at least keeping him alive. He was advised in March 2016 that he was terminal. The tumours had spread to his windpipe and lymphatic system. He was being offered palliative care at this stage. The family distraught. After a couple of months and after further scans, It was found Tonys tumours had shrunk, so they offered him conventional treatment which he grasped at as he was in fear of dying. He went into hospital for 2 weeks worth of chemotherapy. 1 week at a time. 24 hours a day. Chemotherapy constantly being pumped into his body. From here Tony had major surgery.

Tonys visit into hospital itself was a story and a half. He was supposed to be in up to 10 weeks. Was out in 10 days. Walking through the ward after 2 days. Hes had reconstructive surgery, where they have cut out his esophagus and stomach and stretched all his organs up while making a new stomach in his chest cavity. Tony also had a feed tube fitted and had to have food pumped directly into his bowel. This has brought on its own complications, but he continues to smile regardless. Tony then had 20 sessions of radiotherapy which completely floored him. Hes now left with cognitive dysfunction. He has condition called dumping syndrome which causes low blood pressure after eating. Causing him to sometimes pass out, or at least become very tired and fatigued. Tony continues to smile throughout all of this and even goes out to help other cancer patients. He is well thought of and much loved. People say how amazing he is. A good friend. Helpful, caring and loving. A huge heart. Lets all put our money where our mouths are and lets get this awesome bloke all the help he deserves. He has a well known mantra. Lets help him keep that saying up by staying healthy and fit. #FUCKCANCER
