The Context

Alton Operatic & Dramatic Society (AODS) is 100 in 2021! That's 100 years of staging plays, musicals and other shows by and for the local community.

After the miserable year that has been 2020, we will be staging Evita as our centenary musical in November 2021. However, our crew use the loft above the Assembly Rooms hall and can no longer safely raise/lower scenery and equipment onto stage.

The Cost

The cost of staging a musical runs well into 5 figures, and the cost of the new equipment isn't far short of that either (currently estimated at £8,000). So whilst the society will fund some of the work, we simply can't afford all the work and still exist into 2022!

Please help contribute to this society that has done so much to entertain and cheer the local community. We're a big contributor to local hardware, printing and other elements of the local economy, and we continue to help ensure that the fabulous facility that is the Assembly Rooms is lit up with fun, music and laughter.

There is no practical alternative available to us, so please help fundraise for this essential equipment. We would hope to raise more than £2,500...but at this stage we simply don't know how generous people can be (there's a lot going on right now)!
