Story
The Art of Meditation is organising another 24 hour meditation marathon on 18th May 2019 to raise money for disadvantaged children.
We have chosen to support some smaller orphanages of Myanmar (Burma), as we did last year, where there is not as much direct visible support for these children. These orphans for one reason or another have no home or family to provide for them and have been taken in by monks who school them in the basics of education and the Dharma (the teachings of the Buddha). This is particularly an important service provided for by the monks as the children are vulnerable without this support.
We are also supporting The Railway Children Charity, which works with children and young adults who have run away from home or are homeless, in the UK (London and Manchester) and in Kenya, Tanzania and India. They focus on the individuals and their families and base their activities around railway stations (working with the British Transport Police in the UK) where many of the homeless are found. More information about the Railway Children Charity can be found here.
