Story

Ashton-upon-Mersey Village.... what a place! A place many of us call home and are so proud to call it home. Even with a population of nearly 10,000 - you only need to walk in to The Buck or The Plough or any of our other local shops, restaurants and eateries to feel the friendliness of the people and WOW, what a community feel we have. Something to be SO proud of.

So, for the last couple of years, we haven't had any Christmas Lights in our wonderful village and when the Friends of Ashton Village Facebook group was initially set up, the majority of people requested that they would like to see Christmas Lights up again. So, the Friends of Ashton Village decided to take it upon themselves to make this happen and what support we have had already - again, a demonstration of the people, the spirit and the community we live in. Thank you for that.

However, after our recent fundraising success (and there is yet still more to come) we are still in need of funds and as we need a total of £8,000.00 for the FIRST YEAR alone - this page had to be born. So many of you residents and traders have already donated in every way you can and thank you so much again for that. If you can and/or want, please dig deep and donate on this page to help us raise the surplus £5,000.00 needed to make this happen. If we can do this, the next two years will be more manageable (around £3000.00 each year) as we have to carry a lot of the initial cost in the first year.

Thank you for reading, getting involved and being the lovely people you are. Let's do our village proud at Christmas!
