Hello everybody. Today I come with some mixed news. Yesterday, TLR member Apeman (Paul) was on his way to Disneyland Paris, with his wife and two children (aged 4 and 6). Sadly, like some of you must already picked up on, they were involved in a very serious car crash (see video) while on their way to Dover, to catch the ferry to continue their trip to Paris. This would be horrifying to just about anyone, but somehow it hits just a bit harder for these guys.

You see, Paul has been battling a terminal illness called left ventricular systolic dysfunction for a long time now, his heart is currently at only 40% and his health is deteriorating. His one dream that he had was to take his wife and kids on a holiday to Disneyland. However, him and his wife (who is classified as Paul’s carer) were sadly unable to afford this trip, due to the battle that this family is going through. When TLR member Lean, this 21 year old guy, heard of his situation, he decided that he would pay for their entire trip, including a night’s stay in a hotel for all of them & full entrance to the park. This news moved me immensely. Him using the money from his paychecks and even borrowing money from his parents to realise this for this other person, someone who he has never met.

Luckily the entrance tickets for the park can be used for the next 12 months, but its currently still unclear if the money from the hotel can be refunded. Additionally, Paul and his wife had to pay for another night at a hotel before they could return back home. At this point the future is rather unclear, not just the holiday plans, but even things as simple as the rent at the end of the month.

With this message I am hoping to achieve two things. First off, to make people aware of Paul’s situation and the golden heart that Lean has. And secondly, to hope to raise some funds through … to help Paul & his family to still get their trip to Disneyland, and to help raise some funds to give back to Lean and help lighten his load. - TLR Jim
