I've raised £500 to donate funds from the APE2021 conference & support the work of Living without abuse, FND Dimensions & Aftermath.

Our 2nd Affect, Personality and the Embodied Brain "APE2021" conference will be held online on 20th - 22nd September 2021. After last year's successful event, we aim to offer again many innovative and successful academic, social and cultural online networking experiences to both emerging and well-established researchers and other professionals in the fields of personality and affective neuroscience-related areas, including postgraduate and doctoral researchers across the globe. More information about the events, sign up information and information about the charities involved in the conference, can be found on our website here.
Instead of usual conference fees, this year, we are asking our delegates, speakers and attendees to donate to three charities who will be involved in our charity round-table event. These include:
Living Without Abuse (LWB) - who offer help and support for anyone suffering from domestic abuse and/or sexual violence, in particular families and children from domestic violence backgrounds. Living Without Abuse (LWA) believe that all people have the right to live safely and without fear of violence and abuse. They are committed to raising awareness of domestic abuse and sexual violence, working towards its prevention and eradication, and assisting those affected by this crime to determine their own lives.
FND Dimensions - provide peer support for people diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) as well as carers, families, and liaise closely with medical professionals. FND can be very disabling and affects so many individuals at different stages of their life, but remains misunderstood and with limited healthcare options/pathways. FND Dimensions focus on peer support, providing group and one-to-one sessions to reduce isolation, improve knowledge of the condition and improve wellbeing.
Aftermath: Surviving Psychopathy Foundation supports the families and victims of those with psychopathy. Aftermath is dedicated to educating the public regarding the nature of psychopathy and its cost to individuals and society. They support research that aims to: prevent or minimize the development of psychopathic traits, reduce the impact of psychopathic traits, and understand and treat the aftermath of psychopathy. Their goal is to reduce the negative impact of psychopathy on the families and victims of psychopathic individuals.
Some of the research supported by these charities will be presented during APE2021.
As APE2021 is an online event with minimal costs, we are able to offer this event free from any registration fee, increasing accessibility to all. Instead of registration fees, we are inviting delegates to consider making a donation. The funds raised in this donation pool will be distributed evenly between the three charities, supporting the valuable work that they undertake in their respective fields.
Thank you!
