Story
Our church, which is in the centre of the village opposite the post office, is in urgent need of repair. The church was built in 1836 and the slate roof is leaking. Inside we have dry rot damage to a door frame and surrounds, which has caused a door to fall out of its frame.
Although our Sunday congregation is very small, our building is used by the charity CARM (Caring altogether on Romney Marsh), the Appledore Good Neighbour Service, it houses the Parish Church photocopier, the Saturday morning Yoga group, the Appledore Local History Society and various occasional meetings of church groups and village clubs and societies.
The coffee mornings known as 'Meeting Point' are a popular weekly service provided in the church by some of our church members and friends.
We would like the Methodist Church to remain open as a church and community building in the village and have been promised some grant funding by Friends of Kent Churches and from our local Methodist Church circuit. We need to raise at least a further £2000 to enable us to carry out the necessary repairs. If we can do this with your help, the church will continue to provide a place of worship and be able to continue to serve the community for many years to come.
