I live in a beautiful forest in Mussoorie, Uttarkhand in India and have opened a 'Forest School' for children of local communities. The vision of the school is to take children outdoors into the forest area for their daily classes and to teach them basic subjects like language. mathematics, geography, ecology, through an intimate interaction with nature. We would like to enable children to develop a strong sense of 'self' and connection with each other - as well as with the surrounding eco-system. They will also learn to use their creativity and imagination in relating to the forest by sharing their daily encounters in the forest with each other. We believe that fostering such a connexion with nature at a young age is vital to the development of children and to the health of communities. To accomplish our mission, we need your funding in setting up the school-building, a playground in the forest-area, and training teachers to be effective 'forest school' guides.
