Story

I am cycling the Coast to Coast challenge, a 5 day challenge that spans the width of England from Whitehaven to Sunderland on May to help raise funds to take part in a World Challenge expedition to Malawi in 2020.

The Coast-to-Coast cycle route runs from the Irish Sea ending at Tyneside on the North Sea. We start our ride at Whitehaven, Cumbria travelling through the northern Lake District by way of Keswick, Penrith, climbing the hills of the Northern Pennines, stopping at Alston and Stanhope before taking the old railway paths of County Durham to Sunderland a distance of 136 miles. While the highest point is 2000 ft. above sea level by the time we reach the North Sea we shall have climbed more than 12000 ft.

In total I have to raise nearly £5000 for the month long expedition to Malawi which will include an expedition challenge phase and a project phase. The project phase of our expedition will be helping with education in local communities and villages.

Along with a range of other fundraising activities like a quiz night, Christmas Fair and Golf Day, the Coast Coast will be my biggest challenge yet. I have included links for you to find out more about World Challenge and the Coast to Coast ride itself.
