I've raised £10000 to Help Hugo distribute the Arclight Ophthalmoscope in India and Nepal, empowering midwives to join the fight against preventable blindness.

Hello ! My name is Hugo and I'm a medical student studying in Scotland.
Over an 8-month medical motorcycle expedition, I will travel to almost every region of India and Nepal to distribute the Arclight Ophtalmoscope - a new low-cost and solar powered device with a major role to play in eliminating preventable blindness worldwide.
India is the country most affected by preventable blindness. It is home to 40% of all those without sight, 240,000 of which are children. The project I have developed will focus on distributing the Arclight to areas of greatest need, and, importantly, training will be delivered to midwives in how to use it for post-natal screening. Proper examination of the eyes is standard practice in the UK but is often omitted in India due to lack of affordable equipment. Giving this amazing device along with the appropriate training will be a simple but important addition to their skillset - empowering them to join the fight against preventable blindness and reducing the number of children starting life without sight.
80% of blindness can be cured or prevented, but this fact is sadly only actualised by those fortunate enough to have access to healthcare.
If you feel like helping me deliver on this project then any donation would be so appreciated. A full breakdown of the expedition budget is available and I will gladly answer any questions that you have - just send me a message.
