Story

Over the last couple of years, our playgroup has overcome a number of challenges.
Unfortunately, due to changes in legislation, any periods of long term sickness requiring Statutory Sickness Pay are now paid from playgroup funds rather than by the government. The changes have cost playgroup an additional £2500 during the last financial year, with finances being further affected by the necessity to close on some days, resulting in lost fees, and compliance with CIW recommendations on the days that we were able to open, resulting in additional payroll costs. This means that the money that playgroup had in reserve as a contingency has been used in order to keep playgroup open for the children to be able to attend during this school year.

Playgroup is a charity and relies upon fees, grants and fundraising to be able to provide the service that it has been offering for over 30 years.

The playgroup have recently increased its fees and intend to do so again to bring playgroup in line with other local playgroups. We have recently been awarded a sustainability grant and are currently applying for further grants. However, our fundraising events have not generated a significant income, despite the best efforts of those people who have volunteered to organise and run them.

In order for Playgroup to continue, we need extra support. We need to raise £2000 to save our loved local playgroup. Please can you help.
