Story

After so many of you have messaged me asking me to set this up, I want you to know that I see you and I hear you.

I listen to my community of fellow animal lovers more than you could ever know. I understand the feeling of wanting to help more than anyone because, since coming into the public eye five years ago, helping animals has become my life’s purpose. When I’m not helping an animal or supporting a charity, I often feel like I should be doing more.

This time, though, it is my own boy who needs help, and so many of you have asked if you can support him.

Your kindness and generosity have not gone unnoticed.

Aldsworth aka Arnie is the most gracious and beautiful horse to ever grace this world. He raced until 2025, when he suffered a terrible fall and was retired shortly afterwards. Following his racing retirement, he was passed around and given away three times in a short space of time before eventually finding his way to me in September 2025.

He is only 8 years old and should have his whole life ahead of him.

Since then, he has been nothing short of a joy. He has brought so much light into my life and has become one of the most special souls I have ever known.

For some time, Arnie has been intermittently lame. Thousands of pounds have been spent on investigations, only for him to become lame again whenever he was brought back into work. Retirement was always part of the plan and his shoes were removed to give him the summer off, but retiring him comfortably and pain free is the only option I will ever accept for him.

Then Arnie decided to point us directly towards the root cause in the most dramatic way possible by getting himself tangled in electric fencing. Following the accident, he was taken to hospital where X rays revealed a mass or growth that baffled every surgeon and specialist who examined it.

Since then, I have worked tirelessly to find answers, emailing surgeons, equine hospitals and universities up and down the country. A standing CT scan was found and performed with hope it would provide clarity, but sadly more investigations are now needed. Arnie requires a general anaesthetic and biopsy, followed by treatment if treatment is possible.

We are now facing veterinary costs in the tens of thousands.

I am fully prepared to commit to these costs because Arnie deserves every chance to live a happy, comfortable, pain free life. However, so many of you have reached out asking how you can help, and this page is for those who would like to be part of his journey.

Many people once placed bets on Arnie as a racehorse. Now, so many of you want to place your faith in him once again and help him fight for a brighter future.

Please know that I am not asking for all of Arnie’s veterinary costs to be covered as I don’t expect that from anyone. I also want to address a question I have been asked many times: sadly, Arnie can only be insured on a very basic level due to his pre existing chronic conditions. Everything relating to his lameness has been, and continues to be, self funded. All of my other animals are insured to the maximum, and I pride myself on being a responsible owner.

Animal welfare is my life. I fight for animals every single day, whether that is in Africa, in Parliament, or behind the scenes helping those who have no voice.

This fight, however, is far more personal.

This is my baby.

Arnie is not ready to rest. He is still so sparkly and ready to enjoy life, to feel love, and hopefully to live free from pain. Whether that future involves adventures together or simply standing peacefully in a field by my side, I will fight for him every step of the way for as long as there is a fight to be had.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for supporting Arnie, for believing in him, and for being part of his story.
