Restoring the Green Veil: Saving Arnos Vale Cemetery's Hedges
In the heart of Bristol, the historic Arnos Vale Cemetery's Garden of Rest stands as a testament to time, memories, and nature's embrace. Over the years, its serene pathways, lined with verdant hedging, have been a refuge for both the living and the resting. But today, we face an unexpected challenge: the relentless onslaught of the box caterpillar. This invasive pest has ravaged our beloved hedges, stripping away their lushness and leaving behind a stark reminder of nature's unpredictable course.
Arnos Vale Cemetery garden of rest is not just a resting place for those who have passed on; it is a sanctuary for wildlife, a green lung for the city, and a place of solace for visitors from all walks of life. The hedges surrounding the garden are more than mere boundaries; they provide habitat, preserve privacy, and maintain the beauty and character of this cherished landscape.
Our goal as family with relatives in the garden of rest and a love and affection for the space is to raise funds to replace and rehabilitate the damaged hedging, ensuring that Arnos Vale Cemetery garden of rest remains a beautiful and tranquil place for generations to come.
Your support will not only help restore the physical beauty of the cemetery's garden of rest but also honour the memories of of family and others who buried here, and serve as a beacon of hope in the face of adversity.
Join us in this crucial endeavour. Together, we can rejuvenate the garden of rest and let its hedges stand tall once more.
We are raising funds via Just Giving to pass to Arnos Vale. They are supporting the campaign by having their own fund raising page (see below) and also making existing supporters aware via social media and newsletters, our objective is to get wider funding to make things happen quicker and restore the gardens sooner.

We are Matthew, Charlie and Anita England. We have taken it upon ourselves to help kick start the fund raising needed by Arnos Vale to remove the diseased hedges and replace them. Arnos Vale themselves are behind us raising funds and also have a page on their site.
