Thank you for supporting A See Change - Jon E Cassell and Nikki Gatland
On Sat 12th September we will be completing our first challenge to raise money and awareness for OP Surfwell. Join us in our 16 mile swim out to Rampion Wind Farm and back, the first of it's kind.
We will be launching from Splashpoint in Worthing at 0500 hours on the Saturday morning with support from the RNLI, Lagoon Watersports and Rampion. The journey is estimated to take between 5 and 6 hours to reach the remarkable wind farm dependent on the current strength of the English Channel. After refuelling we will then turn and head back to shore hoping to land back at Splashpoint between 1500 and 1800 hours. Why not come down, grab a coffee from Coast Cafe and wave us in.
This swim is just one of many challenges we will be completing as we close in on our pinnacle event. We have entered the 2021 Talisker Atlantic Row Race [Atlantic Campaigns]. We've never rowed before, perhaps a few pedalo sessions on our summer holidays, but that's about it. So 3000 miles across the Atlantic is going to be seriously tough...We're both open water swimmers so if worst come to the worst we'll swim it instead...ha ha!
On a realistic note we're both adventurers who're passionate about the ocean, and our planet using both to help us manage our own personal battles with mental health. As such, we have partnered with the amazing OP Surfwell who use the ocean and surfing to support the mental health of our vital emergency service workers. We've seen it in action and the results are staggering..
Over the next 18months, we will raising awareness and financial support to send teams to experience OP Surfwell's fantastic programme. We will be challenging ourselves in every way possible, from swimming to running to rowing and everything in between.
The target you see above you is a big one, we know, but it is all doable with your support. Not only are we passionate about open water for mental health, we are also campaigning for cleaner oceans. We will be using some of the money to purchase the very thing that will transport us across the Atlantic. THE BOAT and we are training to be the FASTEST mixed duo to do so.
In true environmentally friendly style, we are looking to purchase a second hand boat which will then be donated to OP Surfwell so they can send a team each year. In their own words to that proposal - "amazing'... so you will be donating into a legacy, enabling Surfwell to expand nationally and support emergency workers from all aspects.
Hopefully you feel as passionate about this mission as we do. Please do SHARE, LIKE and SUPPORT us. Jon & Nikki
