Story

‘A STAGE FOR WOODBOROUGH’

Woodborough C of E Primary School PTA is seeking to raise £2500 to part fund a new stage for the school children to benefit from. The stage will immediately underpin a wide range of activities including drama, music, speaking and presentations, and will be used for school plays, assemblies, book week, art week and global activities, amongst others. The stage used previously is broken and now unusable. The new stage will benefit participation, collaboration and confidence for all children in the school.

HELP US SUCCEED! ....Woodborough School is all about CHILDREN: Christian caring, Happiness, Inspiring, Learning together, Diversity, Rewarding, Enabling, Nurturing. Your support for our project will ensure the school continues to focus on children by inspiring pupils to include performance as a key part of their learning and education. We are seeking to raise our funds for the new stage in ONE MONTH - BY JUNE 4TH! – ahead of our KS2 Summer Performance!! Please pledge whatever you can to help us achieve our goal!

THANKS ....We want to say a HUGE thank you to anyone who supports our school, and we’d like to offer rewards to donors of bigger sums. For anyone who donates £25+ we can offer a Tweet of thanks from the school; for £50+ we can offer a Tweet and a letter of thanks from the school; for £100+ we can offer a Tweet and a hand-written letter of thanks from a pupil at the school (all donors requesting these rewards must give names and addresses/Twitter addresses with their donations in order to enable this). Of course, if you wish to pledge anonymously, or without rewards, please do so in the knowledge that the school and PTA is enormously grateful for your support!

PROMOTE OUR CAUSE .....We need as many people as possible to be talking about 'A STAGE FOR WOODBOROUGH'. Please share this campaign with anyone who you think might support us – on Facebook, Twitter, by email, by telephone, in a chat at your local shop,.. you name it!

The ‘Woodborough Magic’ ....At Woodborough C of E School, we aim to create an atmosphere in which all children are valued and value their place in a Christian school community. Dedicated and knowledgeable staff know each child as an individual and academic achievement, high standards of work and respectful, considerate behaviour are encouraged. Strong emphasis is put on the pupils’ ability to socialise, have empathy with others and to think creatively. Our school provides a broad, stimulating and inclusive curriculum where learning through experience is a priority. Regular themed weeks, as well as trips and residential visits, enhance learning and teaching and a wide variety of outside visitors to the school provide variety, breadth and enrichment. We firmly believe in fostering strong and positive relationships between home and school. We are certain that children perform best when we all work together.

The Woodborough C of E School Parent and Teacher Association (PTA) is a registered charity, aiming to make a difference to each child’s life at the school by providing the extras and experiences they would not otherwise get the opportunity to enjoy due to funding constraints. We aim to support all areas of the curriculum as well as looking after their health and wellbeing. Some of the differences we’ve made for school pupils in recent years include: funding of a new bus pull in at the front of school to improve safety during school travel times; resurfacing of the sports playground; annual donations to provide resources for the themed art, book and global weeks; and more. In addition to regular funding commitments, we’re now focusing on two funding goals: improving the IT resources at the school and purchasing a new stage for drama and other performances.

CALL TO ACTION!... We urgently need to purchase ‘A STAGE FOR WOODBOROUGH’ – in advance of the summer performance in July. The current stage is not suitable for further use and needs to be replaced. In addition, we urgently need to replace existing laptops across the school, as existing IT in the classrooms is inadequate. These are equipment goals that currently the school simply cannot afford to replace within it’s own budget.

The PTA is currently planning a summer fete for 7th July to support fundraising for these two equipment replacement goals. After another successful year of fundraising, the PTA is in a good position to support the replacement of laptops. However, we need your support to purchase a new stage for the school! Aiming for a budget of £5000 to purchase a new stage, we are seeking to raise £2500 towards the stage through this JustGiving campaign. The PTA and School Council will provide the remaining £2500 for the budget from their previous fundraising activities.

What will £2500 fund? ...If we successfully hit our target of £2500, this will contribute 50% of the budget to purchase a new portable staging system with easy erection and dismantling – enabling use for school plays and performances, assemblies, and use in book week and art week, as well as PTA activities such as ‘Woodborough’s Got Talent’. It will last for an estimated 10-15 years minimum, providing an excellent resource to support arts and wider activities in the school for now and future years to come. If we raise more than £2500, all additional funds raised will go towards the funding priorities of the stage and laptops.

Thank you for reading our story and supporting Woodborough C of E School.
