I've raised £2000 to fundraise for a mental health placement volunteering in Sri Lanka with SLV Global

As a psychology graduate, in September 2019 I will be going to Sri Lanka for a truly rewarding experience as a part of a mental health placement with SLV Global. The aim of this program is to promote positive mental health and improve the well-being of the people suffering with mental illnesses.
After nearly 25 years of conflict, the war in Sri Lanka finally came to end in May 2009. While still living with the devastating effects of the war, the people of Sri Lanka are now also dealing with the aftermath of a major terrorist attack. The undeniable intense stress has added to their risk of mental trauma.
Unfortunately, the country has many limitations and lacks resources in funding mental health facilities. In 2010, it was stated that there is only one psychiatrist for every 500,000 people. Due to the lack of resources, people with specific psychological needs do not get the support they need and rely heavily on volunteers to support their mental well-being.
As a volunteer I will plan and run workshops in schools and in psychiatric facilities for children and adults with specific individual needs. Techniques such as meditation, yoga and mindfulness will also be used to promote positive mental health. I will also run sessions to teach English in schools as well as working in community outreach programmes.
If you have the opportunity to do so, any donations that you can put towards raising the placement fees will be highly appreciated. You will be supporting a very important cause to provide a better future for people that do not have the opportunities that we all take for granted. With your help we can provide substantial support for people suffering from mental health issues!
If you have read my post up until now, I already feel really grateful and would like to thank you for your time and consideration!
