Story

Hi I m Lisa. I am going to Athens to work in the refugee camps with my daughter Annabelle, who is on her gap year. We are going through www.Indigovolunteers.org and linked with www.Kitabngo.org who are "an international non-profit organisation dedicated to working with refugee teens and young adults residing in Greece."

We will be working on base with "Love and Serve Without Boundaries"

How it all started

I'm a qualified music teacher with TEFL certificate as well. Last year I started working with local volunteers to support the refugee families in Cirencester. Annabelle is having a gap year before going to Uni and wanted to do some volunteering. We decided to go together initially but she hopes to continue her volunteering.

What we need

We have our travel tickets and now need to fundraise to support ourselves in Athens .Most importantly, to have a supply of resources for the teaching. Materials such as stationery are not readily available in every shop (as in the UK) so we plan to take as much as our luggage allowance will allow and then will need to go to specialist shops to buy more. My aim is to set up as much as possible that is reusable such as laminating sheets and wipe boards that can be reused.

I have contacts from my TEFL training days teaching in a camp in Athens and I hope to make contact with Father Leonard, former Vicar of Cirencester Parish, who is now based in Athens.
