Atlantic R2R

Atlantic R2R is crowdfunding

raised of £37,500 target by 43 supporters

Weʼre raising £37,500 to create a legacy project by gifting the boat, kit & all funds in support of a military mental health CIC to allow future teams to compete

Isle of Skye, Scotland

Don't have time to donate right now?

AtlanticR2R, a team based on the Isle of Skye, Scotland will leave in December 2023 to embark upon a unique and life changing expedition:- to cross 3000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean unaided - from La Gomera, Canary Islands to Antigua - as part of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge… a rowing boat.

In order to take part we need to fundraise a total of £75,000 to purchase a brand new RX45 racing rowing boat. This boat, along with all equipment, kit and funds raised will then be donated to Rock2Recovery, our chosen military mental health support organisation, in order to provide the opportunity to place a team into the race every year to continue to raise funds and awareness for the next decade. This is a legacy project which will run on and continue to support our current serving and veteran military.

The hardest part of the race is actually getting to the start line. The financial pressures faced by previous teams who have tried to support this cause has proven too much on many occasions and the opportunity to provide a military or veteran team in this race annually for the next 10 years is a goal which AtlanticR2R are working hard to achieve. Supporting mental health in our armed forces is a cause particularly close to the heart of two of the team members who have been directly affected by the suicide of friends and military colleagues over the years.

Whilst our aim is to raise as much money as possible we are asking our supporters to help us raise half the funds required to purchase the boat but of course hope to exceed that target! Thank you for taking the time to read our story and we hope to be able to show you our heartfelt thanks for your support by being on that start line in 2023 and continuing the work started now for many years to come. Yours, The Team of AtlanticR2R

The team members were working on improving coordination, sequencing and stroke over a 10k distance. Speaking on the session team member Tom Atkinson added: "Great session tonight. Our technique is really starting to come together. It is brilliant having a coach such as Natasha with Olympic experience working with us and we are certainly seeing the benefit!"
