Story

A group of my Family and Friends are taking part in the BANCHORY BEAST RACE on 22nd September 2018 to raise money to support SANDS (Stillbirth& Neonatal Death Charity) and Rubislaw Ward at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital.

Aberdeen SANDS is a local charity who provide support to bereaved families following the loss of their baby. The group is run by a committee of bereaved parents and are funded through fundraising and donations.

SANDS provide many items to the Rubislaw ward in Aberdeen Maternity Hospital such as memory boxes, telephone cards, toiletries, baby clothes, camera SD cards and medical equipment such as Cuddle Cots and Blood pressure monitors. SANDS also fund bereavement training days for midwifes and other healthcare professionals.

This charity does so much for the Aberdeen Maternity Hospital and brings support to parents whose babies were born with wings. 👼 ♥

To give you an idea of how much this charity and Rubislaw ward mean to bereaved parents – Greg and I were lucky enough to be able to use a cuddle cot for our baby boy Oscar. This allowed us to spend as much time as possible with Oscar and without it we wouldn’t have had that option. SANDS made it possible for us to have prints of Oscar’s hands and feet which we hold very close to our hearts. This is only mentioning a couple of the things they do so you can see why this charity means the world to us.

All donations provided will be very much appreciated.

Thank you. xx
