Aurora gives hope of a new dawn

We are all only too well aware of how underfunded mental health services are in Derry and Strabane. That's why charities like Aurora Counselling are so important. This organisation, based on the Racecourse Road in Derry, support children and adults, helping them manage difficult feelings and inspiring hope that things can get better.

That work has become all the more crucial with the stress and strain of the last number of months have inflicted. Aurora Counselling Services are central in that work by offering a wide range of mental health services to children, teenagers and adults.

The charity are present in both primary and secondary schools and have an in house service offering play therapy and counselling. Adults are also supported through a range of talking therapies and wellbeing services. They currently have around 15 staff members in their team who are regularly backed up by a team of volunteers. By contributing to the Mayor's Charity you will make a difference to the level of support this team can offer to local children and adults in need.
