    Story

Autism: more than meets the eye, a short PSA film

We are looking to raise funds to help us finish our short film, based on the small PSA (public service announcement) videos that used to play after episodes of The Transformers back in the 80s the ones we enjoyed in our childhood. Our short film talks about one aspect of Autism, different ways of communication. Click this link for an example of a PSA

The story, a young Autistic boy finds himself lost looking for a play park, he stumble across two strangers and approaches them with a box full of cards, these cards are called PECS and they display images of objects and locations of very day life, the small boy holds up two the two strangers a card with an image of a play park, not understanding the small child they begin to make fun of him, but unknown to them nearby they are all being watched, by the Transformer Bumblebee! Who takes if upon himself to help the little boy out and teach the strangers a lesson in Autism as he too has some experience with different ways of communicating.

you can see our teaser trailer bellow

What we need, we desperately need help funding the finishing touches, the filming is done but now we need to put in Bumblebee himself a fully CGI robot to interact with our live action characters the money we raise will go towards the building of the model and the animation, obviously the more funds we raise the more impressive we can make it and have a final film we can all be proud of.

(above) original shot (bellow) unfinished cgi test

We have worked with the amazing team at https://www.transformerscarhire.co.uk for our live action vehicles, a dedicated team of transformers fans who have created screen accurate replicas of the cars from the live action movies.

    Message from Aaron Fixter (director)

"You may be wondering why I wanted to make this short film PSA? The answer is simple because my son has Autism his name is Sam he is 6 years old, he cannot speak and is being trained to use PEC cards most of his communication comes from random sounds and actions, once in a shop he was playing with a dangling toy snake in his excitement he made a strange sound, a woman was close to him, she turned and looked at him, she gave a disgusted look and proceeded to move away from him with haste as if he was some how derranged and needed to be avoided at all cost as parents my wife and I fell terrible how can someone be so ignorant so we decided that as I have some experience in film making we should make a short PSA and being mad on transformers I made the choice to combine the two. As I see my son in bumblebee, they both can't talk but use other ways to communicate their needs and they both have the same character"

Please give what you can if you can't give please share us.

We are not a film crew, were friends but most importantly family and we want to do something for a great cause, everything we do is in support of the NAS who can be found at http://www.autism.org.uk and anyone who lives with learning difficulty's.
