This crowd funding will enable a training course in basic sports massage for coaches and athletes in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

I am a Masters Sprinter and am in Sierra Leone with my husband who is a paediatrician working here. For the past few months I have had the unique experience of training with and getting to know athletes and coaches in Freetown.

Athletics is very popular here however there is no medical support, physiotherapy or sports massage available. Many athletes give up the sport due to injury and poor management of injury.

My aim is to train a core group of committed coaches and some of the senior athletes in a basic understanding of how to treat common injuries.

In order to do this I need to fund a physiotherapist or sports massage therapist to give a training course. The funds will be used to fund that plus a venue and basic equipment. If we raise enough we may be able to purchase one or two massage tables (but that would be a luxury.)
