Story

Thank you to everyone who has helped us achieve our £1,000 JustGiving target by 'sponsoring a cobble' at Isaac's Well.

The 'Isaac's Well Restoration and Conservation project' is a local initiative to restore the area around Isaac's Well. The aim is to remove old tarmac and return a 30 square metre area around the well to a traditional cobbled surface. Planters and seating will be added to ensure this is an attractive starting point for the 'Isaac's Tea Trail' long-distance walk, and a scenic space in Allendale Square for locals and visitors alike.

Your donation will be used to purchase and install stone cobbles - all donors will be recognised in the 'Allen Valleys 2025 Yearbook' and invited to the grand opening event.

Funds have already been raised to help pay for local builders and craftsmen who will carry out the work, and for the sourcing and installation of a sandstone path to ensure easier, safer access for all. The project will also see the old wall behind the well conserved and repaired using traditional lime mortar.

We have also secured funding from several local bodies and charities, including Helen Allison Allendale Trust, Allenheads Trust, Allendale Parish Council, Isaac's Tea Trail and North Pennines National Landscape. We thank them for their collaboration.
