I've raised £500 to help fund Hospital Charities - AVM Survivor overcomes her fear of heights through partaking in a 160f Bungee jump!

On the morning of 8th April 2010, I left my family to start my day like every other day, little did I know that later I would be fighting for my life. That day I almost lost my life to Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) haemorrhage. Fortunately for me I received NHS treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Neuroscience Hospital where Dr Stephen McNally worked throughout the night to save my life. The craniotomy was a success but my brain began to swell, I was put into an induced coma for 3 weeks. Dr McNally informed my family there was a possibility I may not survive and if I did I may wake up with a multitude of disabilities from memory loss to paralysis. I was one of the lucky survivors, but there are countless others who may not be as fortunate and they still deserve a chance to live a life and this is where my invitation to you begins.
My appeal is to raise funds for the Queen Elizabeth Neuroscience Hospital in Birmingham, and Kings Lodge Rehabilitation ward at Derby Royal Hospital as a big thank you for saving my life and supporting me through rehabilitation, helping me to integrate back into the world again as without their medical care and support, I would not be here today.
I was given a second chance and feel truly blessed to be alive. My loved ones stood by my side, helped me learn all the basic functions we often take for granted. The greatest challenge was not physical in appearance, it was mental, emotional and regaining confidence in myself to feel accepted and comfortable in my own skin again. I think I have overcome most challenges following the haemorrhage, except for my biggest fear. I am petrified of heights but I am ready to face this head on by partaking in a 160f bungee jump for a cause that is close to my heart. Please come along and witness my free fall on Saturday 18th November in Tamworth at Cliff Lakes Waterpark.
