    Story

As salam alaykum brothers and sisters,

I hope you are well and in good health.

There are over 750 billion people around the world who lack access to clean water. Around 840,000 people die each year from a water related disease. Women and girls travel miles each day to collect water that is contaminated, for their families. They don’t have a choice but to drink it otherwise they will dehydrate. The jugs are extremely heavy weighing around 20kg once filled. In Africa the container they use which is called a jerry can weighs over 40 lbs when completely full. Children are especially vulnerable to drinking the water as their bodies are not strong enough to fight the illnesses. Children often carry 1000 parasitic worms in their bodies at any time. Every minute a child dies from a water related disease.

Last year I attended Light Upon Light event at the London Excel. Muntada Aid gave a presentation about the work they do. It was heartbreaking to hear the about the water crisis in third world countries. We have the privilege of accessing clean water daily from the luxury of our own homes. It’s not right that people are suffering on a daily basis, water is a necessity for all humans not just to drink but to use domestically aswell. I decided to make a pledge of £2500 to raise so wells can be built to transform lives. I had no idea how I was going to do it, I’m a disabled single mum but I know that Allah(SWT) will help me. I would kindly ask for you to donate for this important cause. I understand the financial difficulties that some face but even a small amount would go a long way. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said “ Charity does not decrease wealth, no one forgives another except that Allah increases his honor and no one humbles himself for the sake of Allah except that Allah raises his status.” and “ Charity extinguishes the sins like water extinguishes a fire.”

    JazakAllah Khair
