Story

The Walk of the Free, from Father to Son

Salaam Alaykum everyone,

My name is Qurratul-Ayn (Aynie) and I’m 5 years old. My mummy is helping me write this because I’m still little. I feel lucky that I have a mummy to help me, because many kids in Iraq don’t. I want to help the children that don’t have mum’s and dad’s and I want to help the mum’s and dad’s that are struggling to help their families. But I’m only little and I can’t do this on my own, and that’s why I need your help. InshAllah in a few weeks, I’m going to Iraq with my family and I will take part in the Arbaeen walk from Imam Ali (as) in Najaf to Imam Hussain (as) in Karbala. I’m going to try to walk at least 40km out of the full 80km (approx. 700 poles). This time will be extra special because I’m actually going to walk, rather than be in my buggy like the last two times. I think that if we all work together to raise money, there’s so much we can all achieve in this life and in Jannah. Let’s make a promise to Imam Ali (as) that we will care for these children and the needy like he did. If we want kindness in the world, it needs to start with us. My mummy says that even a small amount of charity goes a long way. We will use your donations to buy necessities such as food, clothes, blankets, stationery etc, and distribute them amongst the orphans and underprivileged families when we visit them. I pray Allah (saw) is happy with you and grants you all golden bricks in Jannah.

‘Whoever takes care of the orphans, his children will be cared for.’ Imam Ali (as) - Ghurar Al-Hikam
