Currently in certain regions of Africa, the level of education is incredibly low. The pass rate in exams for English and Maths on average is less than 20%, with the pass grade for both subjects at 30%.

Certain case studies have shown that students are having to walk hours to school whilst having to decide between food or water before coming to school, as the resources are not readily available, as well as having to deal with poverty and abusive environments thus inhibiting their potential to succeed.

The aim for this project is to send 60 students from The University of Warwick, to teach English and Maths in schools in South Africa, Ghana and Kenya. The project has been running since 2006, and the results from previous volunteers have shown an increase in the pass rates for the students, as well as helping to further educate the teachers into more effective teaching methods.

I will be placed in Ghana from June 27th - August 1st 2021, teaching Maths at 3 schools for 6 hours a day. I will also work with other teachers at the school to help to improve the education within the school.

Highlights: Learners Maths a tests results improved from 30% to 50%, and English 46% to 58% in the schools where the volunteers were placed; nearly 750,000 students have benefited since the project has ran from 2006; it costs £10 to teach a child in Africa for one month, 772 teachers have been trained in 2019; the project is run in 23 African Schools; each volunteer must raise £1000 for the project to be run the following year.

It costs £10 to teach one child for one month in Africa, so your donation will go one to help further educate a child, and help light their future.

All and any size of donations will help tremendously. Thank-you so much!!!!
