Story
WE HAVE RAISED £92,000 of our £110,000 target.
Thank you to all those who helped us reach the first third of fundraising. This is a new JustGiving page to help us raise the final amount needed.
OUR STORY: We are raising funds for a statue of the composer, Benjamin Britten, as a boy to be installed on the seafront opposite his childhood home at Lowestoft. In commemorating the town’s great composer at the tender age when his talent was recognised, we hope that this beautiful statue, by the royal sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley, will inspire future generations of local children to achieve their ambitions. Once installed, it will be dedicated and gifted to the children of Lowestoft.
We hope the story of Britten, growing up in Lowestoft, inspires the town’s children to have the confidence to follow their dreams." — SOPHIE AND TAMARA BRITTEN (great-nieces)

From the USA - This idea touched my heart. I love monuments and statues. I have been reading about Benjamin Britten, perhaps one day I will go and see the completed statue.
