Story
We desperately need your help to raise £26,000 for Babs to receive life-changing treatment which is only available in Moscow.
At the age of 34 Babs enjoyed a regular, happy life. She loved her job as a teaching assistant and had a beautiful and energetic son but suddenly, her health began to deteriorate. Her world was turned upside down and she was eventually diagnosed with the extremely rare Genetic Parkinsonian Syndrome, also known as Iron on the brain.
Her condition is rapidly worsening, she can now no longer walk or even feed herself, let alone care for her now 4-year-old son, Lawrence. That responsibility has fell on her parents, Barbara and Pete, who struggle between giving Babs the daily care she needs, bringing up Lawrence and upholding full-time jobs.
Heartbreakingly, there is no absolute cure for Babs, but there is treatment that will drastically improve the quality and length of her life. The NHS has done all they can, the last option for Babs is private treatment which is only available in Moscow.
We are desperate to raise the funds to get Babs the quality of life that she deserves. Every day we are forced to watch our friend, daughter, sister and mother fade away despite knowing this treatment exists.
There is a way to help her, but we need you.
We have been working relentlessly in our community to raise the money but unfortunately this hasn’t been enough. We need to get Babs’ story to more people!
If you could please donate what you can and share Babs story as much as possible, we can help change Babs and her family’s lives.
