Story
Hi, my name is Kirsty and in 2016 my husband I began our infertility journey....
2017, I was diagnosed with two dermoid cysts, I had an operation to remove these in April 2017, in the hope there will be no return!
However, June 2017, only two months after my operation, we recieved the dreaded news they had infact returned.
November 2017, I had another operation to try and remove them again in the hope again, there would be no return. During my second operation my surgeon discovered that ontop of the dermoid cysts was a very large abscess, which unfortuantly had infected both of my fallopian tubes and attached itself to my right ovary. With the cysts and abscess combined, they had moved my left ovary and fallopian tube behind my bladder. So as you can imagine the outcome of this operation wasnt great. Sadly my right ovary and fallopian tube had to be removed.
2018, after coming to terms with the fact we would never be able to have a baby without help. We had started our journey applying for funding on the NHS. We passed every stage which was a massive hope for us. We then attended our last ultrasound appontment, our nightmare begun. Another two cysts had grown back on my last remaining ovary, my body just wasn’t getting rid of them.
This then brings us to January 2019, I had what I hope will be my last ever operation to remove the cyst and my left fallopian tube as this was extremly infected. The operation itself went great, however most of my ovary had to be removed in order to guarantee the cyst would not return! I wake up from my operation to sadly hear the news that I will not be able to use whats left of my ovary to collect my own eggs.
Due to the small amount of ovarian tissue left, the surgeons have predicted I will most likey start my menopause sometime this year, Sadly with no eggs to give, I do not fall into the brackets for IVF NHS funding. So we are trying to raise the money to help us make our dream and mircale come true of becoming a Mum & Dad.
Sam and I would like to take this oppurtunity to say thank you for reading our story.
