Story

Reid was born early at 32 weeks at Altnagelvin Hospital, Derry. From early on doctors knew he had an underlying condition. He had physical markers and a few heart defects. His heart got progressively worse and that combined with a chronic lung disease resulted in him being admitted to ICU at the Royal in Belfast. He has remained there since November.

Reid has been diagnosed with RAF1 Noonans. His diagnosis means Reid qualified for an experimental drug that has the potential to save his life. So far it seems to be working. He was finally taken off the ventilator after 55 hard days. Any small infection or cold could leave him ventilated again. Reid is a fighter and has fought hard for 7 months. Eireann and Sean hope his condition continues to improve so they can bring their boy home finally. His Noonan's means he will always have heart problems but with the experimental medication working he has the chance of a relatively normal life.

His parents are delighted with his progress although the financial burden of having to be by his side daily is not to be underestimated. Jika Jika have decided to help alleviate some of the costs by organising a Live Stream Fundraver on Facebook with all proceeds going to Baby Reid's Family.

You can catch the live stream on the Jika Jika Facebook page from 6pm on Saturday 12th June and donate via Justgiving.com
