Story
I started the Rucksack Appeal Maidstone in 2016 after deciding to do something rewarding with my children and to make them realise and appreciate how fortunate they were.
The Rucksake idea stemmed from something I saw online, that many homeless people have their very few precious items stolen regularly whilst asleep or from trying to store it somewhere because they cannot carry it around. A rucksack can be secured to the body and keep personal belongings safe and dry.
What better gift than offering a free Rucksake and even better to have it filled with all the winter essentials!
These full rucksacks will be handed to the Day Centre for them to distribute to the most needy just before Christmas.
I am seeking help to fill these rucksacks by donations of goods or cash for me to purchase whatever we may need near the end of the appeal. In 2016 the cash donated went towards finishing the rucksacks, brand new sleeping bags and pillows.
