Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
The Bacton to Walcott Coastal Management Scheme is an opportunity to enhance the protection of the coast at Bacton and Walcott from coastal erosion.
The proposed scheme will use "Sandscaping", a UK first based on a Dutch approach, to protect the villages of Bacton and Walcott and a nationally important gas terminal. The project proposal involves the placement of a large volume of sand on the beaches in front of the Bacton Gas Terminal and down the coast to include Bacton and Walcott.
The Terminal will fund their own protection and are willing to consider contributing to protecting the villages. The villages part of the project will need to be funded from a number of sources, this could include North Norfolk District Council, Regional Flood and Coast Committee, DEFRA and the Environment Agency. Other funding sources are also being explored. Local support can help to make the case for funding from other places.
The scheme still needs to have all the funding confirmed and the project still needs to gain all the necessary consents and licences in order for it to go ahead.
For further information please see https://www.north-norfolk.gov.uk/tasks/coastal-management/bacton-to-walcott-coastal-management/
If the proposed scheme does not progress for whatever reason, any funds raised through Just Giving will be earmarked for other coastal management work at Bacton and Walcott.

Thank you for your support and your contribution to the Sandscaping project to help protect Bacton and Walcott. Your donation and support are really important as it will not only help fund ‘sand on the beach’ but also shows that people are behind the project – this then helps with seeking other funds from other sources. As the project progresses we will update information at www.north-norfolk.gov.uk. If you would like email updates you can request this on the webpage. Again thank you. The Norfolk coast is some of the most beautiful coastline in the country. This cause will help to protect it so our children and their children can enjoy it in the future.

Excellent idea - hope it all comes to fruition. Why don't you offer support posters for people to put up in their houses?

North Norfolk District Council manages sea defences on the coast between Kelling and Happisburgh, Norfolk. We spend approximately £310,000 a year maintaining defences where it is considered economically viable, technically possible and environmentally acceptable to do so.
