Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page for BAHASI.
BAHASI, the Bangwe HIV/Aids self-help initiative, is an NGO established in 2004, dedicated to improving the welfare of individuals affected by HIV/Aids. We currently house and feed over 40 children, as well as running various support groups for the community. These include a woman's empowerment group, youth development club, free pre-school and a home-based care program.
In the past we have run a woman's empowerment tailoring program, which focus's on training woman how to sew and make their own clothes. This empowers these woman by teaching them a profitable skill allowing them to be self-sufficient. Not only does this program benefit these woman, it is also an IGA (income generating activity) for BAHASI. By selling the products made we will be able to use the profit to support our other valuable programs and projects.
These projects include the completion of our girls’ hostel, meaning the girls at BAHASI have a safe and suitable environment to stay in; teachers wages for the fantastic women who teach pre-school and standard 1 and 2 at BAHASI; and the continuation of our support of the wider community.
Currently we do not have the funds to continue this life-changing program, we need money for the materials and teachers for this course. Please consider donating to support the community here at BAHASI.
