Story

My first involvement with Special Olympics Norfolk (SON) was back in 2017 when I raised money, alongside my fellow work colleagues at Digital Phone Company and completed the Wroxham 5K race. It was a fantastic event with all proceeds going directly to this local charity.

Last summer my 2 children, Noah and Darcy were competing for GYDAC at the UEA where I noticed SON were holding their own sports event. I was approached by Kay, who is one of the superb volunteers whose role is Sports Development for SON, and we were chatting about how all fundraising my work have raised over the years really does make a massive difference to the lives of their athletes.

I'm extremely passionate regarding all sports, especially athletics, and watching those athletes that day, seeing plenty of smiles made me realise what an incredible job SON does.

After 10 successive years of rejection, last October, I was finally awarded a place through the general ballot for the London Marathon. I have decided to fundraise for SON as I have witnessed first-hand where the money goes. SON receives no direct funding from the Government so if I can make even the slightest difference then it makes all the winter training worthwhile.

Thank you for your support,

Steve
