Story

Ballymoney Hockey Club are delighted that 3 of our very talented young players have made the Irish U16 and U18 teams. In order to represent your country, each player is asked to pay and fundraise a huge amount of money. There is no funding available for the JAG (Junior Age Groups) and therefore the training, trips and travel that these girls undertake Is at the expense of the parents.

Sarah, Kaia and Olivia have decided that they are going to undertake a number of fundraisers during the coming months to help towards these costs, first up on their agenda is a “Giant Walk“. The girls will walk around 14 miles each over St Patrick’s Weekend. They will walk from Portballintrea to Ballintoy, a dander around the Causeway.

Whilst these girls are delighted to have been selected they are also too aware of the financial pressures put on their parents (€900 per child). On top of parental contribution, each girl is expected to fundraise €500 each. It is our responsibility as their hockey club to help out where we can. After all, we are just one big hockey family :)
