Story

Bamford Play Park and Recreation Ground is a popular (and wonderfully sunny spot) enjoyed by locals and visitors alike on Water Lane in Bamford village in the Peak District. The equipment has been regularly enjoyed by local families and their friends, visitors to the area and tourists holidaying in the Peak District for many years. Despite continued best efforts to maintain the current site, the equipment is showing its age and in some cases has had to be removed due to health and safety concerns.

The playground is independently managed by a charity (the Bamford Rec Committee CIO) on behalf of the village, and does not receive any public subsidy to manage and maintain the site. We are keen to help raise funds, believing that our children and visitors to the area deserve more than the current playground provision. We are looking to the generosity of all to help us fundraise for a new and refurbished playground which will serve both current and future generations of children. We know that outdoor play is critical for our children's mental and emotional health, communication, physical development and social interaction, as well as providing hours of fun and challenge in all weathers.

Our wish list for the playground includes a new roundabout; new cradle, flat and inclusive swing sets; a communication board; outdoor musical instruments; a new play fort for older children and a replacement Early Years play system for younger children. A consultation will be underway in the coming weeks to ask locals what they would like to see on the site, and we expect this wish list to be fine-tuned to best reflect the community's priorities.

So - it's time for people power! We are joining together to bring about a fresh, safe and exciting space for children to come and explore, adventure and grow - and we need your help. We will be contacting local businesses, clubs, organisations, trusts and foundations as well as hoping to access grant funding to make this vision a reality. But - we need your support too! Would you consider making a donation towards the realisation of this project today? Please add your donation today, follow the project as we make progress - and come and enjoy the new playground for years to come when it arrives.

Thank you for your help.
