Running for the love of learning
My name is Barbora, I’m a mum and life-long learning and education enthusiast and now also a runner. My relationship with running over the years had been and “on-and-off” one, however, re-starting this activity over the past year, running became my way of recharging my batteries. For me, it increases mental and physical energy much needed to keep up with the kids after sleepless nights and full-on days.
Now, I feel ready to take on another challenge – a half-marathon. I want to do this to raise funds for our wonderful Sheerhatch Primary School and this to enable them to update our children’s collection of non-fiction books. This way they get access to new and reliable information about their world which is bound to foster their love of learning that will hopefully last a lifetime.
I’ve come to realise that learning is a lot like running. It’s not always easy, the terrain (or topic) is not always your cup of tea and there are moments when you want to stop. But if you show up, make a start and put the effort in anyway, the benefits and rewards are immense. Moreover, my training for half-marathon has taught me that it is not always about being naturally talented or the best, but rather about the resilience and determination you keep building, as well as the community and friendships you make along the way.
On May 4th (Star Wars Day!) I will complete 13.1 miles on the streets of Milton Keynes. Please support me in my efforts by donating to Sheerhatch primary school – a small school where every pound makes a massive difference.
Thank you for helping, your support is a great encouragement!
May the Force be with me – and with Sheerhatch!
