I've raised £400 to the memory of Barclay and Trudy Patoir. (Granny and Grandad) who left us within hours of each other on the 17th May 2020. Together forever.

Our grandparents were our rock, our anchor, our safe haven, they gave us their infinite wisdom in times of need. They have left us with something much more valuable than money, they have instilled in us a commitment to community, public service and a passion for helping the most vulnerable. We love them, they were amazing and their life together, through all the challenges they faced, inspirational.
They died within hours of each other on the 17th May 2020, we are heartbroken. (Not Covid related). We will donate any funds raised in their memory, to the communities and causes they cared about. The Mothers Union in Wythenshawe was a weekly event for Granny, I remember going with her many times to have tea, biscuits and home made cake, it was a place for women to chat and help each other. Grandad was President of Greenbrow Social Club in Wythenshawe for many years and has a bar named after him. Being a life long member of the Labour Party, he worked to support families who needed help. Small Voluntary and Community organisations in Wythenshawe who support the most needy in society would be a fitting tribute to them both.
In 1943 Barclay left his home in Georgetown in British Guyana and travelled to England to support the war effort. Travelling by sea he landed in Liverpool and went to work as an engineer at the factory in Speke. Trudy was assigned as his assistant. Despite prejudice and racism from their own family and community at the time, they got married, and their last wedding anniversary was their 75th.
They have shown us what truly matters in life - love. That is all.
This is their story.

Now together forever, this is their song.
