    Story

Bardsey Action Group (BAG) exists to protect greenbelt around the village of Bardsey, Leeds from threat of uncontrolled and unsustainable housing development. A current threat against the greenbelt needs your support to fight this.

WHAT ARE BAG PLANNING TO DO?
BAG are intending on drawing on professional resources to help fight against the current threat of development on precious greenbelt that suffers catastrophic flooding locally and downstream. The scheme intends to increase the village by a disproportionate 15%.

We wish to employ expert advice to protect our greenbelt and this expensive. This crowdfunding will contribute toward these fees and surplus funds raised will pay for additional experts and contribute to future development threats on greenbelt around the village.

    WHY SUPPORT BAG?
In the emerging Bardsey Neighbourhood Village Plan, residents wanted greenbelt protection to be given the highest priority - protecting the special landscape character of the village along with wildlife habitats to ensure it is protected for future generations to enjoy.

The Leeds City Council has also indicated that it is against development in the greenbelt surrounding the village. Preference to development on more sustainable locations, often ‘brownfield’ sites that would be supported by greater infrastructure – railway links, shops, schools, doctors - is supported by residents and the national planning policies alike.

This greenbelt is an important local amenity, rich in our country's agriculture and provides a vital green asset to our community. The greenbelt offers open space which ensures that villages and towns are independent from one another, preventing urban sprawl and allowing a corridor of wildlife between villages, towns and Leeds City Centre.

Bardsey greenbelt is under threat and your support is invaluable. If we win this fight, our case will support other villages and towns the same situation across the UK.

    Thank you,
    Corina x
