Story

Skydive 2018

In September 2018 I am going to be jumping out of a perfectly serviceable aircraft to raise funds to help me and 36 Scouts (14 to 18 years old) attend the World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia in 2019.

Why?

I am one of four leaders taking 36 Scouts to the World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia in 2019. There will be 4000 Scouts attending from the UK and thousands more from across the world. This is an opportunity for young people to experience other cultures, food etc. The young people have chosen their Unit name which is Brizzly Bears hence the badge in the photo which was designed by them. The link being bristol, balloons and Brunel (hat). The bear is the national symbol of the UK jamboree contingent.

Each of the leaders and young people have to raise £3495 to pay for the trip but it also costs money to do all of the training they have to do on the lead up to the event. We have many events to plan and our intention as leaders is that the young people do not have to raise any extra money to pay for those events.

We have all had help from Avon County Scouts and some have had help from their Districts and Scout Groups For which we are all very grateful But it is only a small percentage of the total. Personally I have to raise a further £2000.

How will the money be used?

Any money raised here will be split 50/50 between the Unit funds to pay for the pre jamboree events and my own fees.

Scout leaders are all volunteers
