🏔️ Everest base camp Challenge for The Neuk 🏔️

Supporting mental health crisis services in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Hi everyone

We are Barry and Claire and together in October we will be taking on the challenge of a lifetime. We will be trekking to Everest base camp to raise vital funds for The Neuk , a life saving mental health crisis centre in Perth,Scotland.

Together we will trek through the stunning Himalayas for 16 days , covering over 130km at high altitude, with ultimate goal of reaching Everest base camp at 5364 m ( 17,598 feet ) above sea level.

🧭 Why We're Doing This

We’re taking on this challenge for The Neuk, because we believe no one should ever face a mental health crisis alone. The services The Neuk offers can quite literally be the difference between life and death, and your support helps keep that door open for those who need it most.

🌍 Why Everest?

Everest Base Camp is not just a destination, it’s a test of endurance, determination, and resilience. With steep ascents, thin air, and challenging terrain, this trek is no easy feat! (and will give us sore feet🤣 ) But every aching step will be worth it if we can help raise funds for The Neuk, an organisation that provides immediate, compassionate support for those in suicidal distress or mental health crisis.

The Neuk relies on charitable donations to continue its essential work. Every penny raised will go directly to support people in their most vulnerable moments.

🛩 The Adventure Begins… at the World’s Most Dangerous Airport

Our journey starts with a thrilling flight from Kathmandu to Lukla Airport, ranked as the most dangerous airport in the world. Perched on a steep Himalayan mountainside at nearly 2,850 metres above sea level, Lukla’s runway is just 527 metres long, with a dramatic drop at one end and a sheer cliff at the other. It’s an unforgettable start to an already epic adventure!

🗓 Our Journey

* Start Date: 15 October 2025

* Duration: 16 Days

* Distance: Over 130 km

* Highest Point: Kala Patthar – 5,545 metres (18,190 ft) for panoramic views of Mt Everest

* Climate: Freezing temperatures, high-altitude air, rugged trails

We’ll trek through iconic locations like Namche Bazaar, Tengboche Monastery, and Dingboche, before the emotional and physical high of standing at the foot of the world’s tallest mountain with our team Neuk flag.
