Story
In 2007 Barry Purves lost his left arm after he was involved in a Road Traffic Accident. He was in a collision with a lorry whilst he was on a motorbike. The lorry dragged Barry under the vehicle, and when it came to stop, one of the wheels pinned Barry's left arm to the floor.
Barry has not let this accident ruin his life, and as a member of The Rugby Triathlon Club, has competed in a number of sprint distance triathlons, the London Olympic Distance Triathlon and is already planning to do a 70.3 Distance Triathlon next year.
Not content with that, he also has a desire to do the Ultimate Triathlon, an Ironman.
Barry has a Prosthetic arm that was given to him by the NHS, and whilst it does a job, it does not give him a lot of flexibility, and the world of Prosthetics have moved on since he had his arm.
Barry needs to raise £4000 for a purpose designed and fitted Carbon Fibre arm. The arm will come from a company that designs Prosthetics for many Paralympic athletes, and will give Barry a Prosthetic that will enable him to further his enjoyment of the sport, fullfil his personal ambitions and continue to show other people that if you have the desire to compete, you can overcome the obstacles that are put in your way.
On behalf of Barry, his friends and family.
