Story
Friday the 8th May will be VE Day ‘stay at home garden party’ I will be going live with some war time songs hopefully from my front patio (weather permitting may be from my living room) whilst doing this I’d like to raise some money for two local events. All monies raised will be equally split between the two events ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Unfortunately, both Padiham on Parade and the Annual (15th) Serviceman/Womens Dinner which is held at Molly Rigby's have been cancelled due to the covid-19 outbreak. Both these events help our Veterans and serving men and women in Padiham and surrounding areas to come together, for some the only time in the year, to meet and share their thoughts and experiences. The Dinner is self funded and a dedicated bunch of volunteers, all Padihamers, give their time and effort to run the event we are hoping to reschedule the event for September 2020. Although Padiham on Parade receives a small amount of funding it is mostly reliant on money raised through fundraising events organised by the committee. Portions of money raised from both events are donated to a nominated service charity each year.
The Barsby Belles was formed specifically for the Sevicemen/Womens dinner 8years ago as so they could still have an act but at a fraction of the price meaning more money could go back into the event and the charities they support ... we have been involved in the dinner in someway or another every year since... from the back of the dinner is how we ended up being part of Padiham on Parade and we love it every year! The support from our town, Padiham, and these two events has always been amazing, thank you. We’d like to try and raise some money to help ensure these important Padiham events are able to continue once Covid19 allows us too, any money raised large or small will make a huge difference.
*unfortunately due to social distancing measures and having had a baby in the couple of weeks Georgia wont be able to join me... i will however share her version of ’we’ll meet again’ 😘
