Story

Batchwood Pickers is a growing team of local volunteers dedicated to keeping the pavements, parks, and green spaces of St Albans clean and welcoming for everyone.

We don’t just pick litter — we campaign for a cleaner, safer environment for our children, our pets, and everyone who enjoys the outdoors.

To do this properly, we’ve set up a community bank account so we can organise insurance, equipment, and events. After our first year, the bank has started charging a small monthly fee (£3), and we need to cover these essential running costs to keep our voice strong and independent.

Every penny donated will be transferred into the Batchwood Pickers community account and used for:

• keeping the account active,

• essential group insurance, and

• supporting our ongoing volunteer work.

If we ever fundraise for a specific purpose — for example, new equipment or a community event — we’ll always make this clear on our social media and updates.

Your support helps us keep St Albans beautiful — one piece of litter, one act of kindness, one weekend at a time.

Please note: JustGiving requires all funds for community causes (not registered charities) to be paid initially into a PERSONAL bank account.

In this case, donations will come to my account solely for this purpose, and will then be transferred in full to the official Batchwood Pickers community bank account.

The funds will be used only for essential group costs such as banking fees and insurance.

Full transparency updates will be posted on our Batchwood Pickers Facebook page every quarter so supporters can see how every pound is used.
