Story

We are fundraising to raise money to support touring our show The Neat Freak in Spring 2021. Your money will go towards venue and rehearsal space hire, accomodation and transport costs.

Before COVID-19 rocked our world we had planned to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe 2020. Unfortunately, the festival has now been cancelled. But we’re going to pretend like we’re still going anyway. Our team have challenged themselves to walk the distance of 385.5 miles - the distance from Bath to Edinburgh - and back again in 35 days. Which is 128.5 miles each in 35 days (between 6 of us!). 771 miles total in 5 weeks. We are starting on 7th of May and aim to be done by the 11th of June.

We’ll be posting regular updates to the page with our progress and would appreciate your support in whatever way you can.

Moon House Theatre is a new, up-and-coming company who specialise in making work about subjects that we, as young theatre makers, are passionate about. Founded on Christmas Eve 2017, the company is predominantly based in Bath with the majority of the company being graduates of Bath Spa University. In the past our work has had themes of mental health, sex, relationships, isolation and homelessness.

The Neat Freak was one of Moon House Theatre’s first major projects. The premise of the show explores what it's like to live with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) using physical theatre and monologue storytelling. The show has been developed through extensive research of real experiences with the illness and created using a combination of scripted work and devising. Inspired by traditional Greek tragedies, the show brings forth the Moon House Theatre aim of creating fresh theatre made by young people for an audience young people.

The concept was thought of by Charlie Henderson-Howat, the project's writer and original director who cast actor Ellen Larson after a discussion about her obsessive tendencies. The project led to Larson being formally diagnosed with the condition and receiving treatment. This proved further to the show creators that this show was important - it can educate audiences and lead to real change in the perception of the illness in society.

Our cast - Ellen Larson, Laura Heybrock, Odette Clark, Zoë Fawcett and Rob Bellamy - and lead producer, Emily France, are proud to be taking on this mammoth challenge and hope you’ll support them by making a donation to the page or by sharing our challenge! *

*Our assistant producer, Charlie Henderson-Howat, is taking part in the challenge as our reserve team member. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we are aware that should one of our team members become injured or unwell that they may need to rest or even isolate. Should this happen, Charlie has kindly offered to step in to help make up the miles so we can carry on and do our best to make our journey in 5 weeks. Thank you, Charlie!
