As part of our pioneer battery traction project, we are converting a former South West Trains 4-CIG Motor Brake coach to be self propelled by battery power. As part of this huge project, we need to have all of the relevant components which we have already purchased, professionally overhauled. The ultimate aim being, to have an iconic Southern Region "slam-door" train running under its own power on a heritage line for the first time. As part of the project, the vehicle will be fitted with a miniature buffet area and a fully fitted out wheelchair accessible space within the former luggage cage area. We are aware that funding for this nature of project is extremely tight, however even spare change donations or the price of a pint would be greatly received!
