Story

Battle Buddy UK is a community interest company founded by veterans, of which one was diagnosed with combat-related post-traumatic stress disorder and tried to take his own life back in 2017. I founded the company out of my experiences and that of many other veterans that the feeling of something missing with the long-term support and treatment of those suffering from complex mental health problems within the veteran community. There is a plethora of third sector organisations serving the veteran community, but there are few who understand and can treat the complex needs which many ex-servicemen and women present.

In addition to the daily struggle that veterans face, their families are also face little to no support. This has a hugely detrimental effect on their marriages and relationships, which in turn impacts the veterans’ wellbeing.

So to that end I am planning on running John O'Groats to lands end to raise awareness and funds for Battle Buddy UK but not only will I be running it I am attempting to beat the record of 9 DAYS 2 HOURS 26 MINS this is no small challenge but what the veterans and their families face today is far greater. Yes I will be pushing my body to great limits but I cant sit and watch my fellow veterans and serving members of the British armed forces take their lives.
