Story

BAX AND THISTLE'S TIGER PROMISE.

"Wild tiger populations have declined by around 95% since the beginning of the 20th century. There's now estimated to be around 3,900 wild tigers" - WWF 2019.

On January 1st 2020, we donated and in turn adopted a Tiger via the WWF and whether the tiger knows it or not, we named him Bax. As an online vintage clothing business we already have many sustainable beliefs and practices, however the new year for us provided an opportunity to both rebrand and redefine. We decided we would use a tiger to symbolise our new identity - the assumption and phrase is "Lion, King of the Jungle" so why Tiger and not Lion you ask? Tigers brains are 16% bigger than a lions, here at Bax & Thistle we understand that thinking outside the box requires the top two inches.

Or someone in the marketing team couldn't tell the difference between a lion and a tiger on google images and now it's too late.

You decide.

WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO?

We're opening a live Tiger cafe in Stoke-On Trent where you can be admire these beautiful animals and enjoy a bacon sarnie for a small fee of £5 a head, deposits non refundable.

No, we're not but that would be cool minus the inevitable bloodshed.

WHAT ARE WE REALLY GOING TO DO?

We are encouraging all our customers, followers, friends, neighbours, social media stalkers, covert celebrities that donate anonymously to fledgling just-giving pages to donate to our page.

We will then, with 100% of all donations (minus the just-giving fees) adopt as many tigers as we possibly can via the WWF, indefinitely. We'll even let you name them, as long as it's not Tiger McTigerface. The tigers have been through enough.

Why adopt just Bax when we can adopt the whole tiger neighbourhood?

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?

Every customer or non customer who can claim a donation made to this page will receive an exclusive 50% code on ANY item we have available.

ON THAT NOTE...

Please consider donating so we can adopt a tiger via the WFF, in their own words;

We’re determined to help double the number of wild tigers to at least 6,000 by 2022 – the next Chinese year of the tiger. To achieve this, we’re focusing on conservation in 13 priority landscapes, including areas in Nepal, India and Russia. At the groundbreaking international Tiger Summit, which we helped to organise in 2010, governments from all 13 tiger range countries committed to this ambitious and visionary species conservation goal and created a global plan for tiger recovery.

Your adoption and support will help us:

-secure well-managed protected areas

-restore fragmented areas of habitat (wildlife corridors) so tiger populations can grow

-strengthen anti-poaching patrols in and around protected areas

-conduct camera trap surveys to be able to track population trends and guide conservation action

-fund our other essential work around the world

Thank you,

BAX & THISTLE.
