I've raised £500 to pay architect fees and prepare for the building foundations of Negril's very first animal hospital

STORY
Negril, Jamaica is one of the top three major tourist attractions on the island. More popularly known for its seven miles of white sandy beaches, Negril is popular on the list of places to visit for tourists worldwide, being the home to the famous Rick’s Café and Blue Lagoon. However, what Negril is not known for is its loving treatment of stray dogs. Negril has one of the largest stray dog populations across the fourteen parishes on the island. To date, Negril has no veterinary clinic for animals to call its own. The nearest veterinary clinic is more than 31 minutes away by car and after that, more than an hour away. The lack of these pet care facilities is alarming and the greater impact comes with the fact that the deficiency experienced is not only felt by dogs but by other animals as well.
GOALS
Through our program, we intend to build a stable to home two rescue horses and treat injured animals and those with poor health issues. Servicing the Negril community and the greater West end of the island is only one dog rescue that does an amazing job.
Adding to this deficit is the absence of any recovery equipment. For example, there isn't a single hydrotherapy pool to be found within the entire parish of Westmoreland. Hydrotherapy is integral to the good health and overall recuperation of sick animals. It helps to rebuild muscle mass, and increase balance, coordination, and blood circulation. Dogs can benefit from pain relief, improved stamina, curbing weight loss plus post-surgery recovery; not to mention the reduction of inflammation with just a few sessions of hydrotherapy. On the whole, the community of true dog lovers is a small one on the island. Regrettably, dogs are viewed as pets for leisure or security personnel, and not God-created individuals worthy of nurturing and love.
